Did try both, Toothpick and Bamboo Skewer Frets many years ago, but for some reason didn't like them!, might have to give them another try! :-)

Yes Dave, I file slots first, then a quick scuff of the toothpicks with fine sandpaper, I always use Titebond on all my wood projects?
