Big old Rickenbacher horseshue pickup. The smoothest tone i've ever owned. The bass is mellow and very strong. This is one blues monster.

  • I think you can still get a horseshoe pickup new from Lawler, but i don't know what they cost. I see i've left out a zero in my comment on value. That's $1000, not a hundred..... :&).....
  • I remember reading about those horseshoe pickups but I've never seen a pic of one. How cool!

  • Marcus, it's not that rare. There are usually 3 or 4 such Ricks on ebay under vintage lap steel guitar each week. They run high up to $100 or more. I didn't pay that much, but this one has some dings and the nut is homefixed. I always look for the less than mint editions.... but it's at the top of my budget and made me flat broke for a while. Lucky, the guitars i'm selling added up to it.
  • O...M...G....How on earth did you manage to find that one Dave?

  • Muddy, that's what i'm tempted to try some time, but this is a 1940 all metal Rickenbacher lap steel. It's vintage stuff with one of the first electric guitar single coil mag pickups. One hot pup!
  • Did you build a git out of a case??!?
    Awesome!!!
