my first CBG -- very successful first hack-job loaded with happy accidents.all hand tools and elbow grease. I used a basswood box, finger-jointed corners, very thin laminate top and back. I blocked the corners and the front and back under the neck so I could screw it tight but still have access. Also to strengthen the box and tame the resonance of the top/back without killing it.customized cheapo piezo mounted on the neck in front of the bridge a couple inches.Amazing tone! in DAD or thereabouts it sounds just like a full acoustic. but tune that up to E and it sounds almost exactly like a banjo...very recordableplugs into my Blues Junior or a 4x10 Bassman like a dream!

Thats a real nice lookin guit you've got there fella,Im diggin the colouration of the box and those tuning pegs set it off a treat, Great work even if it were by accident..........
I'll have to try that trick when I go hunting for boxes now. Seriously, I took it down to Guitar Center to show a guy who works there...took it into the amp room and plugged straight into a 4x10 Bassman...people were floored! Could not believe that tone came out of this light as a feather stick on a box.
I think my next one will be a bolt on 6-string neck, bigger body, a real 'guit-box' -- then I'll go back to a 4-string or something off-beat, like a two-string bass drone with a three strings up top with a HIGH string...don't know, just having a blast planning in my head...
That's your FIRST? Woah. Lookin' FINE. Let me know when your NEXT one is done.
It's fun walkin' around with one of these. The first reaction is always "Ha, ha, he made a guitar out of an ol' cigar box." I hit a few licks (and I am NO musician) and the wallets come out. Take that with you when shopping for bits and pieces. Most of the local tobacco shops give me cut-rate deals on boxes, hoping to get a CBG to hang on the wall.
