Although the body and fret board are plywood the neck turned out to be a reasonable piece of indeterminate hardwood. I stained it walnut then applied a coat of sanding acrylic sealer and a top coat of acrylic satin lacquer. Fret board and side position marker dots are pau abalone and black 'ebonised' effect was achieved with a carbon black acrylic paint marker. The fret board was included in the final top coat of satin acrylic, then the whole neck was lightly polished with 3M fine cut polishing compound, just enough to give it a 'played in' feel.
