Brown Cohiba 1 & 2

Two small Cohiba solid-bodies. My first Brown Cohiba (solid oak - left) and the latest version (oak & pine - right). No1 has a unique sound but it uses up a big plank of oak and my stocks are limited !

  • Nice I need dots before my eyes to play....on the edge is best

  • Yeah, the strings are Chinese £1 a set electric jobs and sound OK.  Have you seen Cash Converters strings ?  They're £3 a set or £8 for bass strings.

  • I like those twin rails
    I also have mini humbucker
And like the sound of them ,think its a firebird
    Pickup
Don't underestimate stings,16's give loads of tone
    If it can take them
Cheap acoustic china strings are ferrous
    and sound fine too.
    Piano strings are cool too.
  • The LH one was the first fretted one I made and I couldn't cut dot holes cleanly so I left them off.  Then someone told me that using a blunt 20-year old drill bit wasn't a good idea.  I bought a new one specially for dots and it's been OK since.  It has side dots.

They're difficult to compare because the character of the pickups is very different.  On the Rat Bugera, the rail pickup works best on 'humbucker' setting but the mini humbucker needs the bass boost of 'single coil'. The new one sounds like the DD Special and the other one doesn't :-)

  • It would be intersting to compare sounds of each... they looks great...

I think I prefer the left, but is it misisng its dots?

If you dont need the bullet knobs let me know as I can use them up
