Diddley! Started w. a jute string (no hemp string in the shop), thx Jonathan but didn't like the sound, went to a git string. Sweetness and fun. And quick build :) -Glenn

  • Thx Uncle John, fun indeed :) -Glenn

  • Cool box!  Simple, but handsome build.

  • Wc T-Gripped! -Glenn

  • Thanks Glenn. Makes sense

  • T-Gripped, yes, 2 part. And no special bracing due to three factors- just using 1 string and not a super heavy gauge at that. Secondly I think this particular box is tough cardboard overlaid wood so fairly strong. Lastly, I didn't glue the lids down, had I built a 3er I'd have done so. -Glenn

  • Does this box have a two-part lid? If so, did that call for special bracing?? I have a similar box (I think) and want to build it into a 3-string

  • I can imagine about the diddley bows. Oh yes. That one string means--sorry, no safety net. Either it sounds great or more like a cat in heat--or perhaps an angry cat. You are very welcome, once again.

  • Wc! I've really a thing for diddleys, and they challenge me to write and perform better songs as there's sorta no safety net as with more strings. Fun. Thx again! -Glenn

  • You are very welcome, Glenn. By the way: Really cool Brazil box. I am sure the Diddley sounds  great!

  • Thx Jonathan! Agreed. I've used all you mention here on a number of occassions with varied results and it surely is subjective. I'd just never tried any sort of cord or twine before. I've made and even sold weed wacker bass cbgs, some w. a pickup sounded Amazing! -Glenn
