Very nice Mike. He'll like that for sure. On my big Fuente, I'm going to ditch the Rt 66 amuminum plate for a steel license plate. Will need to redo the rod piezo too. Still learning by doing about those critters.
Just finished a dog bowl res for my wifes sister to take back to Taiwan Sunday.
Richard I did a License plate box. Long story but will try to keep short. I "bartered" for 2 necks, not being able to do them myself. When you look down the necks it is like looking down an old deserted railroad track. Fret spacing is off even to the naked eye and fret wires need serious leveling. I went ahead and used one however. It will do for me but I wouldn't give it to someone else. Enclosing some pics. It is an aluminum plate. I would recommend a steel one. My biggest issue was getting a bar piezo to work right. The bone bridge had to be in direct contact with it. I should have incorporated the piezo into a wooden bridge and use a little hole for the lead to go through but I cut a rectangle hole in the plate. We all learn by doing.
I understand Richard. I want to eventually do a resonator box and a license plate box but going to be choosey about the boxes and construction. Thanks for the comment..
no I didn't .. Once I made the first one and it was such a player ,,, didn't want to take a chance on the second one ,as I only have 2 .. They are SERIOUS players with a good pick up .. I put the sound holes in the top of the box so as not to deface it .. It just handles ,, plays extremely well . Has a real mellow ,low down old timey honky tonk sound to both of em
Richard, did you make License Plate gits out of this box? If so, I would welcome any basic tips and ideas you have on it. Not sure of things like how securely the plate has to be attached to the top, bridge used etc.
Bill I have made 2 gits outa this box ,, all I have ever been able to find in South Alabama .. I have to say they are the best 2 I have ever made . Wife immediately took the first one soons I played it ,,, second one,, everytone is trying to buy it . It will b a definite keeper ..Do ur best work on it as u make it cause u won't wanna let it go .
