BANJO BUILD-OFF I started on this mini banjo a little over a year ago and finished it last week. The rim is made from a section of 6" aluminum pipe. The tension hoop, flange, and armrest are made from brass stock, and are hand engraved, mostly using a Dremel tool. The tailpiece is a Waverly style that I shortened and reshaped to fit, and engraved. All the metal parts were nickel plated. The neck and resonator are made from curly maple with mahogany stain, and finished with hand rubbed, rattle can, spray lacquer. The fretboard is Indian Rosewood. The inlay is my own design and was handsawn with a jewelers saw. The tuners are Five Star Planetary and were shortened to fit the smaller size of the mini banjo. The banjo is 22" long, and is tuned to one octave higher than standard G tuning. I just uploaded a video on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROIa-03JyicThanks for your consideration!
