Angry Rooster tools! Fret miter box

My first fretboard off of my new miter box I made a couple days ago. Worked pretty well. Plenty of room for clamping to the bench and clamping the fretboard in place. This one is for my Briggs and Stratton theme guitar.

  • You're welcome Kigar! When I first thought about making one of these, I pictured myself cutting the slot with my fret saw and wondered how in the world would I do it accurately enough.....then this idea popped in my head. So much easier!
  • Thanks Jerry!
  • I was trying to figure out how to cut the slots so square and well aligned!  Your method makes perfect sense, it is funny how the brain can get stuck on a certain way of thinking and not see a better solution.  Thanks for sharing.

  • It's basically 4 boards. The 2 sides and the bottom and then the base with the name on it. The bottom and sides were the same length. I took the two sides and aligned them evenly on the sled fir my table saw. After I cut them in half, I used the left sides of those boards and lined their edges up with the bottom and clamped them together while a pre-filled the screw holes. Once they were attached, I put the other halves of the side boards on. To get them positioned right, I put my saw blade in between the boards....as it would be when your using the box to cut a board. Once I was happy with how the saw blade slid through the slot, I clamped and screwed them on. Perfect alignment!
  • I'm jealous.,.,

  • I like the miter box!  I can see how it was designed and assembled, but how did you do the key steps of making sure everything was square and parallel?
