Thanks Uncle John! I really like that one too. Even the weight of it feels real nice.....a little heavier than the others I've made because of the added bracing to join the boxes. It sounds louder and has better tone than the one on the right. I'm tempted to keep thst one since I don't actually have one of my own. These 2 are sold to the local music/guitar store.
It's 2 small Romeo Y Julieta boxes. I removed the 2 front faces on the boxes to joint them together. I lined the 2 long sides of the "new" box with boards and one across the bottom seam. This made for one solid box. It's a 25 inch scale and uses a rod piezo from CB Gitty under the bridge. Bridge and nut are Brazilian cherry. The fret board is a salvaged piece of walnut, pulled from the mud. Bugs and/or worms ate it up so I filled it in with some epoxy mixed with maple saw dust. The neck itself is african mahogany. I have a drawer pull holding the strings. There is also a drawer know next to the fretboard. I have a board at each end of the box that I screw the neck to. Because of how the 2 box lids opened, I could screw the neck to that board on the one end, but the other box wouldn't open because it hit the fret board. So I screwed through the box on that end. The draw know covers the screw head. There were little obstacles using 2 boxes, but not too hard at all. I'll be doing more for sure. I can get tons of little boxes that would otherwise go to waste.
