AGP #398 - ''The Ex-Champ''

AGP #398 - “The Ex-Champ”3 String Fretless Baritone GuitarThe Box Body is 20mm thick Recycled Pine Pallett Wood, the Neck is Recycled Spotted Gum, both given a tickle with the Gas Torch, and a coat of British Paints Acrylic Clear Gloss. As is obvious by the Pic’s it was originally fitted with a 3.8k 4 String Bass Pickup housed in a very nice vintage “Champion Spark Plug Tin”, However!, upon plugging it in to my Amps, it squawked, squealed and screamed so much, I had to let it out on Parole, and replace it with an 8.2k P90 Dogs Ear Type Pickup, which is hardwired to the Output Jack. :-)

  • "Thanks Glenn", much appreciated comments from such a fine musician as yourself :-)

  • Sweet design, nice look indeed AGP, thx! -Glenn

  • "Thanks Dave" I think its the first "Big Egg" Sound Hole I've done, I think its a good way of combining a Pick Up and a Sound Hole to let the acoustics out, not that it applies to this build, as the Box is constructed from pretty thick timber, and does not have much of a loud acoustic quality.  :-)

  • "Thanks Denbo", Yep!, squeals eliminated, currently strung with relatively light gauge strings for a 28" Baritone Scale Git, at the moment, .040NW /  .028NW / . 020PS /, and tuned G D g, so its not a Heavy Growler, sometime in the future I will probably go for heavier string gauges, and tune it open C or D, which should give that Growler on Steroids Sound  :-D

  • Cool AGP. It looks potent! I have a similar “big egg” sound hole on a board I’m thinking of building into a similar pickup hole...

I’m having trouble posting today. The effort crashes each time I try posting. I got a video on finally but a photo just won’t make it.
