AGP #239 - ‘’Spearior No~9’’(1 String Diddley Bow Shoveltar)Scale : 648mm / 25½inchesStrings : .036NW /Tuning: C /A couple of my "Dear Old Dad's" shovels, that were languishing away, out of sight in the shed, the one on the left was his pride and joy, "always kept spotless", the one on the right I think may have been passed down to him by his father, (my grandfather), and as he did with all his tools and possessions, they have his initials N.S.P. mark on them somewhere, in this case chiseled into the handles, somehow I don't think he would have ever imagined them ending up as what is loosely described as in my world as "Shoveltar's', a 1 Stringer and a 3 Stringer, they'll hang proudly somewhere (if I can find a space) :-)

The Shovel might have had years more use in it 'UJ', but!, I don't think the present owner/shoveler has !!!, it has been in that worn state as long as I can remember, which makes me think it dates back to at least my Grandfather or further, it's definitely a vintage tool, but can't find any info on the internet, I can just make out the stamps, "Spearior 9", and what I think is "Spear & Jackson Reg. Trademark".
