I spent ages messing around making something similair to this for my Cohiba box. These are 500k and apparently thin enough to mount under a raised pickguard, so should be ideal for just under box lids. They are about £3.50 each. Iv not tried them yet, but thought you might like too.

The chap selling them says it 'screws onto the guard floating type'... Im yet to receive mine, but I guess he means you drill a small hole drilled through a floating pickguard and mount it from the top. I figure this will be perfect for mounting under the box lid so the box base will just need a notching out - and you can still open the lid easily :o)
