5 string banjo

BANJO BUILD-OFFCigar box style 5 string Banjo. This one is built along the lines of my box guitars. I used old fence palings for the sides and back and packing case timber sliced thin for the top. The neck [I removed the peghead plastic face plate] is from a salvaged Gibson Mastertone, the tailpiece is a reworked old banjo tailpiece, bridge I made from Maple and the armrest is Mulga. The tuners came from the junk drawer but are geared and work well. The sound is warmer, less shrill/bright than a bluegrass banjo, which I like, and it has some volume.Taff
