Here is my latest CBG. While strictly not made from a cigar box. It was created from a small plywood box which I found at a charity stop for just $2.
I sanded it down back to the bare wood and then stained it.
The neck is New Guinea redwood.
The floating bridge is Iron Bark.
Its 4 String open D tuning, using the 6th, 5th,4th and 3rd stings from a standard set of strings. tuned to D A d f#.
The inlays are 5mm thick knitting needles and there are 3mm inlays on the top edge of the neck also but can't be seen in this photo(s).
This is my first NON-Through neck design. There is a hardwood box frame lining the inside to support the neck and give it extra strength.
The frets are standard fret wire purchased from CBG Gitty.
The scale length is 24.5 inch.
The phoenix design is hand drawn on the back using just a sharpie. I will endeavor to lacquer it in due time to try and protect it.
The hole you can just see in the photo on the right, at the bottom (partially covered by the strap is where the strings are feed through the whole body as there is a solid piece of wood there to allow them to do that.

There is a pezio mounted internally just under the bridge and it's 6.5mm socket is located on the end just below where the strap attaches.

I will try and play some tunes and upload them later if anyone is interested in the sound it makes.
