DMON, the reason i put these on top is to make it simple. I dont feel comfortable making a scarf joint yet. If I put the tuners underneath their would not be a sufficient angle after the string passes the nut to ensure stability in the nut recession. Hence the string would slide off.
This is a string through headstock. Next time I use this method i will add fretwire before the string enters the neck to keep it from barewood contact.
