I’m flying a bit blind on the four string , with it’s set up so I think I’ve enouhg wood there to support 4 machine heads
Yep!, that's my favourite standard way of doing the Headstock, usually abt 125mm long x 65mm wide with Tuners 10mm to 12mm in from edge, which at least lines up the outside strings to the Nut Slots :-)
