  • yeah the reason i didnt order em new was i didnt want ot wait haha. the bike guys idea , he said they had alot of em in the bin. and when they change wheels most of the nipples are like brand new. plus sometimes i want the ragged ones .  recycle for the kids future hahaah

  • Agreed, oak is still my favourite wood to work with, tough as it can be sometimes! Good score on the spoke nipples. Never asked for used ones, new ones cost 20p each so no biggie!
  • oh went down to the local bike shop and got some used spoke nipples ,  great idea , I ran out of steel rivets didnt want to use the aluminium ones and iddnt want to buy another pack of steel ones.  they gave me all they had for a buck . some were toast but had alot of good ones in the lot

  • All i got around here is oak so I adapt to it, i like it though. I used to fabricate metal. so im heavy handed with teh file. tried mahogany once for a neck. too soft for my likings neck came out like shite , oak, tough as nails I like it and I always get a dramatic grain pattern with it .  More so than maple .  Unless you get the fancy curly burly stuff that I cant afford.  Rock on brotha

  • Thanks Ant - always enjoy your feedback! Oak staining project is moving along slowly... I now have 3 necks on the go. Trying to make a couple for myself before the house move. And of course working on yours too - stay tuned for some pics!

  • i can always spot me some Richey Kay, in the crowd. Awesome signature bridge , my favorite, and of course those wonderful drop headstocks, hows your oak staining project coming along. Fun i bet

  • Thanks J Lee/Kane :)
