#160-Moonface in the Sun

#160 - "Moonface" is a wicked cool (and rather heavy) 3-string resonator CBG made from an old (and abused) Caribbean Cigar Co. mahogany ply box. Mr. Moon has a GREAT, loud, acoustic voice and features a CBGitty handspun aluminum resonator cone and plate with an aluminum tailpiece, chromed corner plates and a smiling, padauk 1/4 moon face (donated by noted folk instrument maker and friend Steve Catania in PA) adorns the upper left corner of the box. Mr. Moon got a bone nut and saddle, an ol' skool Tele pickup AND a hot piezo pickup (directly on the cone) - YOWZA! His neck is carved from local white oak and features a padauk fingerboard and oak, bird wing headstock (with purple heart edges and three, in-line chrome, sealed tuners). I plan to play this one in the Milford, DE "Brewgrass Festival" on June 12. Zizzle 'n Zinnngggggg!

  • Thanks,Gary.  It was great fun to build and I think he's gonna be a 'keeper'...haven't heard a voice quite like this one yet!

  • Great description of a stellar (er 'lunar'?) build!
