I'm in the planning stages for my next build...an (approximately)1/2-3/4 size upright acoustic bass. I want to stand up, pluck and slap out some blues and shuffle-Billy jams.
Any suggestions re scale length to make sure I get that upright bass tonal
Hi folks,
About to start on a new build. It's going to be a mod of a mandolin body into a 3-string, 25.5" scale, fretted electro-acoustic. My last build went well but I get a buzz mid fretboard...unless I raise the action at the bridge...clear case

Oh man I'm so bummed out!!
I did a test assembly of my new 4 stringer. I put on 1 string and the neck behaves like a whammy bar! The slightest pressure and the the whole thing bends enough to throw the tuning out dramatically.
The neck is a standar
I have arrived at the electrics stage of my second CBG build, a 4 string license plate guitar.
I want to keep the front of the plate as clean as possible. I have neck and bridge pickups, two P90's. I would ideally like to mount them under the plate
Hi all,
I've recently received one of Randy Bretz's rod reso biscuit bridges. I've built everything up but I suspect the profile I put on the saddle isn't up to much.
Does anyone have advice and ideally photos of the profile they use on their bone
I'm near finishing my first resonator build.
It uses an Old Lowe 6/7" cone and a Mojo Bone rod biscuit (both stunning bits of work btw). Problem is I want a light open D tuning to get a nice crying pitch but the strings don't offer much downward pre
I have just wired up my lovely new rod biscuit pick up from Randy Bretz and have encountered an oddity to my experience.
Everything work just fine but I have found that I weirdly get MORE buzz when I am touching the strings or metal bits! When I let

I'm about to start a reso project with a Lowes cone. I want a piezo pick up and love the way my Chickenbone John piezo rod bridge sounds. What would you suggest in terms of a bridge/pickup set up? I have rods, disks and even a CB Gitty rod bridge.

Hi Y'all,
I just got a fully fretted neck from CB Gitty and was wondering if anyone had any advice for fitting a bone nut? There is no fingerboard to provide a ledge to offer the nut up to, just the neck itself and a nicely made scarf joint. I'm ner
Does anyone have any suggestion where I can find some 3 string slide licks, techniques and picking patterns to add to my currently random wanderings over the strings?
Just some basic variations and patterns would be great so that I have a place to s
Hi folks,
I have recently purchased some simple, 2.5 watt LM 380 based amp kits. They make a tidy little CBG amp but lack gain control for a bit of crunch. Does anyone know if putting a simple pre amp module in line between the guitar and the amp wi
