If you're buying a new saw have a look at the Stanley Fat Max range They are very good but need to be used with care as the modern tooth design is easily knackered !
If you have the cash and the space a band saw is a great time saver and makes life alot easier

You might like to try this technique for sawing down the length of the neck,with a bit of care and a good sharp saw you will not need much finishing
