pine necks
now i understand the reason that most builders use hard wood for their necks, but as long as i install a truss rod or laminate in a strip of hardwood like oak is there any reason that i can't use pine or some other soft woods for the neck on a build?

fret wire
i'm looking for a good place to get fret wire for a decent price or even a good alternative. i have used tooth picks on a couple of builds but i want something with a little more polished look. any help would be huge

I'm working on a 6-string and i'm wondering if i NEED to install a truss rod?...i know that in a traditional 6 string electric or acoustic they prevent the neck from bowing too much...but do i need it for my box? any advice would be much appreciated
