Hi Tom. I don't use glue on the tack heads. I pre drill the tack holes about 3/4 of the tack length. I want the tacking to be gentle on the bowl. I get very tight heads with no slippage. I'm going to try glue on one using the hose clamp method. I'll make my own body for that to suit the clamp. I do glue in tacks that don't hold with super glue. I get a few of them due to too deep pre drilling. Hope this helps.

I'm using the EADG strings from a string and tuning down slightly on the top and bottom. This neck has a steel rod for strength. TBH the quarter sawn oak I use for my necks is mega strong. It can easily support 4 strings without any strengthening!
