Hi Nile
Thanks for the comment mate - yes i managed it in the end - winding the top two strings was a testing time lol!! but it's finished now - just started to make a mini amp to go with it .
Well looks like you been very busy - where did all them builds come from wow! - hey tell you what i love the Fiddle style guitar thats a cracker
very nice builds my friend
not yet on the tri-cone got some obstacles in the way, mostly cold weather, i need to rebuild the front clip on the frame cause i put some screws in the wrong place.i have already had it together and played it a couple of times during the process of building. i played it with two different sets of cans. one set deep aluminum with the back of the can touching the back of the guitar, not quite good enough for me killed the tone. the other way was with the shallow metal tuna cans setting on those quarter in. dowels, that is the way i intended it to be and was much better. so i found that the two back cans were touching and didnt like that. so i set it aside for a minute and started working on other stuff. the theory does work though and it is louder than just one can but they must float and be able to vibrate freely to get the best effect possible.
nile you got some cool builds, thanks for the invite on the reso page you started. i like that fiddle box you got there, i built three fiddles in my past and the very first one was an amazing project, i used salt water to cure the wood as i was working on it and the salt water helped to build up the resonance in the wood. as i carved some wood away i would retreat the fresh wood with salt water two or three applications then let it cure for a few days. after it was done about a year later i had it hanging on my wall in my living room, and if you walked by it and was talking loud it would talk back to ya, it would ring and the top was super thin in all the right places, i will tell you how i did the top also at a later time, i think it was one of stradivarious hidden secrets he took to the grave with him, it was an accidental discovery for me and i knew it was of significant importance when i discovered it.interesting discovery,s i have found many.
