Building a 7 layer laminated neck (alternating oak with poplar) and want to scarf the head join. Is it practical to do this by hand? I do have a compound saw but not sure if it would cut at 15 degrees so am thinking of making a simple mitre box.…

Thanks for the information...seems like a great idea to use, especially on a fretboard...i´ll see how it goes :)
Pleased to accept, Marcus. Hope the tip for the bridge helped.
yeah Marcus, they can be modded...takes a careful approach, since the new holes have to be drilled directly below the adjustment screw holes...not much room. If you do try, I suggest removing all the other pieces (screws/saddles), and use some lubricating drill tapping oil. This will help a lot. Be sure to drill a hole big enough for the part of guitar string that is twisted around the round knock, but not (of course) larger than the knock. (knock= the round ferrule/ball end of string).
In my humble opinion, though, a through-body setup provides better sustain.
Hi Marcus I am not sure what you mean? The cat I use on my page is my own. Not sure what other one sorry. Love the collies to I had a good ole boy for years. Thanks for the friend request! Meeowwwww^^
Happy birthday Marcus. Hope you have a peaceful one!
Just an afterthought Marcus. One of the photos on my page shows the handle pretty good I think. A picture is worth a thousand words they do say.
Pleased your getting on with your Guitar Case. I look forward to seeing a few pics when finished. Yeah I'm from the West Midlands originally but have lived up here for 40 yrs now. Have a look at my Vid just posted. It shows the country just north of here.
The way I made the handle was 2 pieces of 5 ply fretted and filed to identical handle shapes with small solid timber blocks glued n screwed at a right angle to there ends. Then a downward screw plus glue to fix to side walls of case. The inner faces of handles meet flush when case is closed a bit like shopping bag handles.
Hi Marcus, the inside of the horn is porous and quite brittle, I used a drill press to start a hole all the way through and then filed and sanded until it fit my finger.
Hi. ok who is stew mac?
