Lipstick Tube Pickup Wiring

Hi,

Can anyone assist me with how to wire a lipstick tube pickup to my volume pot? I'm familiar with a two wire hookup...but this on has three: red, white and twisted wire mesh (ground?). I'm afraid electronics is not my forte!

I'm building a cbg with a hard tail bridge for the fist time. I have been unable to find information on where one references the scale distance at the bridge. Can anyone provide this information?
