Ok, technically not a CBG but Cigar Box Nation is directly to blame for this instrument being built so I am sharing it here.
Presenting: "Conviction"
A tribute to the venerable Fender a Telecaster, built in a rat rod style with vintage flair and lot
So after over 30 CBG's I have decided to try building my own bass, to use as a backup to my early 1980's Fender P when playing out. And for the fun of it, of course.
Early on I dedided the body would be a thunderbird, but with a Fender neck because
This particular festival features an Artists Village with a juried selection process. Once you are approved, you are given a 10x10 pop-up booth and free access for yourself and an assistant. In return they simply ask for a donation for their silent a
Wondering if anyone else here has tried this. I had a customer commission a build by handing me a small 9V Danelectro Honeytone amplifier and tell me "Make a cigar box guitar with this inside."
The box is built from mahogany plywood. The neck is maple, with a lacewood fretboard. It extends through the box, and is doubled up going through the body to compensate for the notch to accommodate the single coil pickup. I used a pair of Grover bass
I have a friend who wants me to build them a custom CBG, he has provided a nice black and gold COHIBA box and we have decided to go with gold accents on the bridge, tuners and knobs. If possible we would also like to do the frets in gold.

Anyone here done this and have any pointers? I figure there is a lot of unclaimed space under the neck of the guitar where an amp could be installed.
The only question I have on this is whether I should put the speakers on the inside of the case or
Are there any events in the Great Lakes region? I've been building CBG's for about 2 years now and would like to meet up with other builders and get some more input and learn a bit more about the crafting and playing of these unique instru
Last night I put together a quick build using an old "Canadian Club" gift box that my wife had been holding on to for a few years. I already had the neck built for a hubcap guitar so there wasn't much to do to finish it up.
I found a supplier who ships these for less than it would cost me to buy the piezo, output jack and volume knob separately. And they even included the 9V battery.
