Read more…Ok, so I'm working on a new build and I'm trying to get the string height to where it feels right, but I thought I better ask you guys what a good medium height would be at the nut and 12 fret. I'm sure many of you here have guitars that you use…
Read more…Hey everyone! I found out about cigar box guitars for the first time about three weeks ago from my guitarist in my band(I just sing) and I think I've been bit pretty hard by the CBG bug. I've bought some tools on the cheap, converted a room to a…

Hey there! Sorry it took me almost 2 years to accept your friend request! I haven't been on the site forever...and I have been neglecting my cigar boxes :( no more, though! I'm diving back in head first. Can't wait to finish some projects. Loving your work, by the way! SO beautiful! Will definitely be hitting you up for some advice soon enough.
thanks andy .
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the advice on the string problem. I believe that I have found my builder, and am looking forward to getting a start on the project as soon as I see if I get a box that I really want.
Have a great day...
Hi Andy,
I was trying to get something in the 100 to 150 range, but I guess I am trying to get something a little more advanced than the 3 I have, and I didn't realize how much the CBGs can go for. I know they are worth it, there are some amazing builders here. More is just not in my budget right now. I only know I have to wait for just the right guitar, or have someone build it for me. I am trying to get a box that I used to have a CBG made from, but the builder sold it at a show I was doing. If I get it, I might try to find a builder that can use it for me. I do have a friend who builds custom guitars and dob ros, but not CBGs lol.
Hi Andy,
Thanks so much for the compliment on Dead Flowers. We had fun doing that. I am looking over your guitars, and you do some beautiful work. Do you sell them and if so, do you have a link? Also, can I ask what you use at the end of the neck for the ball end of the strings? I have 3 cigar box guitars that my friend built for me. But we used earing backs for top where the strings come through the neck, and nothing on the bottom. I find that the ball end of the strings are working there way into the wood, and I don't think it will be easy to change the strings.
Thanks again and nice to meet you
thanks andy .
