Hi all, I’ve just finished making my first dulcimer and, buoyed on by the success of its sound and build, I’m excited to move on to another project. I’ve settled on trying my hand at a resonator…Continue

Built this dobro a while ago. The intonation is a little sharp at the 12th fret. It’s good when playing with a slide though. My question or comment is... I don’t see a way to correct the problem once…Continue

Thanks for creating this new section guys! I'm going to be building a dog bowl resonator CBG soon and hope to share my experiences and pick up some tips along the way.
national 3 string mod
1928 national tri cone reso serial number 0 666 . YUP, 666 !!!!!!!!!
Ok .- heres the story , I got the empty national body on ebay a while ago ,
It’s a true 28 national , and is serial #0 666 I though “hummm” I gotta do something cool with this WITHOUT ALTERING THE ORIGINAL BODY .” so , I figured these plastic chrome skull Harley / rat rod tail light covers would look great in there and match the 666 theme . turns out they are a great fit and actually reso pretty good too.
I made the neck out of a 1x2 and a 2x2 , and it’s a thorough body . the thin fret board on-top is from a 1948 Gibson lap steel . scale is like 22 and a half .
EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE CAN BE UNDONE . and you will still have an original 1928 national tri-cone reso nickel plated silver . body .. un molested (except it looks like someone made a bit larger end pin hole (most likely for an end pin jack and pick up at one time . as many have done . ( it’s under belt buckle tailpiece now ) . I didn’t even clean this body .
This is a cool one of a kind , 3 string , cigar box guitar type , LAP player as is . but you could also restore it to original .
goatskin reso
, I popped an aged skin tambourine in a double wide body , and used a dollar store drip plate as the screen . fork tailpiece etc etc …
BUT , it is more than just a tambourine in a guitar body , I retro-fitted the skin and tambourine body to act as those toy kids echo microphones , with the addition of proper gauge spring , pulling tension directly from the skin , then to the body . To make like an echo / reverb tank . it works very well . will even echo your voice like the toy mic does .
I originally figured I’d release these as a new line / model . she is a turtle of a different feather , that’s for sure . ;-) And takes some getting used to.
ill wait and see if she stands the test of time , and I get used to her , before I decide to make more or not .
till then .. enjoy this tease ;-) LOL ..
It’s like a national , a banjo , and a swamp witch had an orgy and this popped out . ;-)
