Here is my 1st amp.  I always wanted to make one, than I walked into the local Guitar Center about a year ago and they had a Fender Mini Tone-Master on sale for $29.  LM386 Mini Amp $8  This version has no adjustments except on/off/volume so it is very good for my Uke playing, but not so good for my steel 3 stringer, I'll have to order some parts from Ben for that.

If you haven't been to your local cigar store lately because you have enough boxes to last you a life time, here is a reason to visit again.  A Concert Perfect Harmony cigar box to make another amp.  I am going to put the speeker & controls on the sides and back & keep the front clear.

Hi Glenn, I've made a CGB amplifier, very like a 'smokey joe' type amp. It's 0.5 watt using a LM 386 - N3 chip which isn't very loud but has terrific gain.  The LM 386 - N4 is rated at 1 watt, but I couldn't get one when I needed it.

The components are very cheap, good supplier is Bowood electronics based in Chesterfield, check out their website & give Will a call he's very helpful.

The circuit board I used is as per the web link below (which is a really good guide) is a proto board sourced from eBay.

This link is a great step by step guide & there's also a link to a coloured diagram which is a great visual aid.

All the best Dave

Hi ampers. I'm about to build some Noisy Cricket amps, which are 1/2W. Are there any good 9v amps with 1W output? I like the sound of Noisy Cricket and it has gain and tone controls. The Stella amp looks good but can't find a schematic for it and not sure if it is 1/2W or 1W.

No on that last one, but I do have one like it. I've got 5 or 6 different fuzz PCB's so I think I'll just put this one on the shelf for now & use one of the others. Thanks for your help, but you are wrong, there must be 50 gazillion of these clones & no two are alike. I will now go eat my burrito, drink beer & watch the snowstorm.. Have a good weekend.
