I read a CBG "how to" somewhere else on the net that said if "some" of the white crystal chips of during disassembly of the housing that it wouldnt effect its operation. Well after I disassembled the housing the red positive wire plum fell off the piezo element with a little bit of the white crystal substance. Now the question is can I solder the wire back on? I know I can just run on down to radio shack and buy another for a buck 49 but, Id rather save the money if I can.

I have decided to use two piezos on my CBG. As far as the placement, should they be right next to each other or seperated or does it even matter sound wise?

although this is just my first build, I took some old packing foam from something i had shipped to me and hollowed it out. I got the piezo to sit nicely in it and it acts as a buffer for the noise from your hand and your voice. I wouldn't think this is the best way.... Just the way i did it. I will post some music up soon to have a basis to compare.

I've just built my first CBG and super glued four piezos in it, each piezo has a different frequency, but lots of string slide grating noise and box noise when picking it up) I'll try the pads next time.

Hi Andy,

I stick my piezos down with "serious glue" from B&Q or Tescos (the bigger tube as the small one is too expensive for the amount you get) and use this to glue any bits of the guitar that need it - it gives a really strong bond (tight joints if clamped) but if a big blob is used for the pickup it goes a bit like silicone mastic and gives the bit of dampening that you need.

Andy, i used a double sided sticky pad you can get them from any pound shop.
also they have about 2mm of sponge in the middle, there something like 20 in a pack.

You're going to want to use something permanent but not too solid. I know that some people use a glob of silicone, some use hot glue. I'm experimenting with the sticky putty that you can use to hang posters, etc. on the wall. If you use something too solid, like super glue, it'll be extremely sensitive and you'll get plenty of noise every time you run your hand down the neck or anything like that. You've got to find the balance between being too live and too dead.

I have got a 35mm - 1 and 3/8" (Inches are weird, I'm English so measure in mm)
peizo disc, an ex buzzer.I wasn't going to put a pick up in my uke but initial tests show that it sounds really good! I was wondering what you stick the disc down to the top with. I couldn't find a group for electrics so added one.
