Hey Guys
sounds like a good idea to me , would love to meet you guys- as for playing though mmmmmm!! i'm pants lol!!
but would bring the guits with me ...the only problem i have is getting there as i have no transport , i don't drive and i just sold my motorcycle so that leaves my Push Bike ... well i could make a trailer for it lol!!
only thing i can say is wait and see where it's gonna be and i'll take it from there , could use the train and cab will have to wait and see .

would be a real good day / night though

I think its important for builders who might not wanna play to know there is no automatic expectation of them doing so-it SHOULDNT stop people turning up if they're a builder but not a player. Some of us are players, some builders and some both-its all good.Like babyface says, should you wish to have a go, the support level is gonna be 100%-we cant lose.personally, the idea of chilling out in a room, wandering from Juju's builds to Chickenbones to others..I mean, come on- it'd be like heaven!

What might work is a performance evening by people who are up for it (there's always The Crossroads house band on hand), with daytime workshops for tuning/playing/performance techniques and maybe also a building seminar/workshop. We run open mic and jam sessions here all the time,so we know all about encouraging an supporting beginners.

Smojo...get yourself a cheap SatNav..I don't use one myself, but appreciate the benefit.

Sounds like a damn fine idea!! Count me in (even though my CBG skills are somewhat limited).
To be honest though, I can't see anyone here sitting in judgement on someone's skill level, or lack of it, and it could be the start of something regular!!

Yes great idea. Two problems for me though. 1 - never played live in public so I'd probably sh*t myself at the prospect. 2 - Having been an on call engineer I used to travel all over the country and Birmingham was one of my most dreaded places to have to go to. Nightmare to get to and got lost many times. I'd probably sh*t myself at the prospect! No offence meant though Chickenbone, it sounds like a grood venue. Best offer so far I think.

Aww, sh*t... so now buildin 'ems not enough, we gotta learn to play now too? lol
Great idea Boozy, especially like the day and night thing as no matter where its held, a lot of us will have to travel. Youre all welcome at my gaff.... though Inverness might be a bit far for Hollowbelly....

Well..let's kick the idea around, check out the club website and you'll see what we get up to. Our club night is Thursday, but no real problem about putting on a Friday / Saturday night event, or even a daytime workshop /seminar kind of thing -for example in October I've booked Catfish Keith for a Saturday night gig and Sunday workshop.

Chickenbone Johns Crossroads club was the first place to pop in my head-I just didnt say it b4 cos it aint my gaff!
Before that idea I was gonna suggest the north even though Im in devon,(cos there seems 2 b so many northerners) but if u think about it Brum IS kinda central..

CBG guitar get-together....nice idea but where? I it might be useful for everyone to chip in with where they are to see where might be best. I run a weekly blues club in Birmingham, but the location might not suit everyone. We've run a couple of themed events such as "Slide Guitar Shootout" and Harmonica Hell", so this sort of thing is nothing new for us.
