Juju is right imho-I just used the last piezo I own in a wallhanger cbg Ive made for a punkblues dj friend of mine-I wont be using any more-even 'good' ones cause sonic problems when going thro a pa that I can frankly live without.

haha , mine didnt even cost a pound rooster!!
and it is very small! i have some old strat pups knocking about, might stick one of those in.

i'm not a fan of Piezos at all thats why i either buy mag pups or make em , not had much luck with piezos at all , they always sound like a screemin cat in a can lol!! , maybe they sound better with a pre amp , but i just aint got the time to mess around , it's easier to make a mag pup , just my opinion maybe the piezos i bought are just Shite lol!!
juju.

Maybe I know why my piezos sound rubbish - mine cost about £1 each! lol
Ade, rumour has it that the middle sized ones sound better than the small or large ones in a geetar... dunno if its true though. Might be worth having a read thru some of the forums and bits in Teds Mad Scientist Group re: encasing piezos and where to mount them etc - it all makes a world of difference (again, apparently. Cany say myself as I binned all my piezos in a sulk and use P bass pickups instead now).

ah there are piezos and piezos-I got a £10 one from ebay that sounds terrible too-but the one in the tin cbg I recorded the live EP with a piezo by Shadow -cost £27- I mean, they look exactly the same but ones good and ones rubbish.
Comment by Ade on May 7, 2009 at 4:09am
ive done that, but i dont think the lid is strong enough to take the tension without bending to touch the neck!
put a piezo in now, it sounds terrible!!! just bodged it for now so will try to do a better job!
Comment by HOLLOWBELLY on May 6, 2009 at 9:11pm
yeh thats what i do-i take enough off and then i shove the piezo pickup in the gap.
Comment by smojo on May 6, 2009 at 8:30pm
Ade, I cut a few mm off the neck where it runs under the lid, just enough so they don't touch.

ps, im up for this festival big time!!
Comment by Ade on May 6, 2009 at 9:22am
hello again, got a couple of cbgs now, got a question for any one with a tin box, how do you keep the top from pressing on the neck when the strings are tensioned up?, mine sounds a bit muffled(could use some new strings though to be fair!!)

thanks
Ade
