Reuben's birthday guitar

Hey! Just thought I'd share a few photos of my latest project. This is a home made resonator box with a mahogany one piece neck which has a violin style head stock, which I made for my son's birthday as he has been showing a lot of interest in my last build. I decided to make a notice and tendon neck fitting so I could have a clear sound hole for improved resonance. At the moment the strings are nylon but these will be changed to steel as soon as I've changed to tuning pegs which are a little soft so have become slightly loose already. I'll turn some hardwood ones when I get a moment. I'll make a post and add some more pics to the home made resonator boxes page to show my construction method soon, for those who may be interested. Anyway, let me know what you think.

  • Hey Sasquatch, that looks fantastic. What a great birthday present for your son! Love the violin headstock - did you do that by hand?
    • Thanks Andy! Yeah all carved by hand, chisel and files, not perfect but effective non the less.
  • Bloody spell checker: I mean mortice and tenon of course!
