Hi guys and gals...following on from the discussions about something happening in the South Yorkshire area, looks like somehting will happen..and sooner rather than later. These dates are tentative at the moment, but I've been asked to do this, so if at all possible, I'd like to make it happen. It's come about from my being at the guitar shows, and one of the other stallholders runs an open mic at this venue, saw me playing and asked me about doing something.

Friday - 22nd July Cigar Box Guitar open mic

Saturday - 23rd July - Cigar Box guitar players workshop with my good self. (timing to be sorted, but probably late morning/lunchtime to early evening)

Venue -  The Polish Club, Barnsley.

Looks like it's all free  -  just turn up and play - house PA, backline provided. For the workshop, we don't need many to make it work, and indeed, it's better if there aren't too many...again free (though if people want to cross my palm with some petrol money for the workshop that would be cool).   This is all pretty much on the fly and late notice, but I'd prefer to make it happen on a small scale NOW rather than faff about and wait...we can always do something bigger later on in the year.

So come on..any one up for this?....lets see what we can throw together.

  • OLIVER REED wasn't drunk and shambling compared to the guy on the drums... I loved the way he still managed to have his shirt tucked in though. Pure class.
  • Ant..you weren't drunk and shambling...not compared to the bloke on the drum kit...

  • thanks to john for sorting this and letting us loose in Barnsley.  And please accept my apologies for being drunk and shambling again.  Nice to meet some new people, and a bit of a chore to see JuJu again, but he's not allowed to get the train on his own...

and soul - I don't want to ask why you have a soggy bottom.  Just glad I didn't have to sit on that chair after you.

  • Yep, second that.  Thanks to John for sorting this out, I had a really good laugh!  See you all at boxstock!
  • OMG its that Soggy Bottom Boy lol

  • HI good people..a big thankyou for turning up and supporting this weekend, whether it was for the open mic or the workshop. I'm just back home...3 days on the road..an open mic, workshop and a guitar show....400 miles driving but definitely worth doing. I hope those of you who came thought it was worth your time.  Thanks again.305731858?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • I second that Soul, had a brill time. For a newbie like me the knowledge and friendship I took home was great, better then any book. "Is there a drummer in the house?"    Gandalf.
