Hi All
New to this group and have just picked up what is, almost undoubtedly, a Teisco Electric though it is badged with the name of a UK Music Store (Minns Music) as Minns Custom. Only difference seems to be that, the neck has no torsion bar though, it does have a label saying it is steel reinforced.
It's in really good overall condition and actually plays and sounds really nice, but is missing the spring and arm for the tremolo/vibrato tailpiece.
Have tried eBay already and there are a couple of tailpieces, also without spring!!!
Anybody out there have any ideas about where to pick these up? Obviously a UK source would be good so, if someone has got some specs, I would probably be able to find something to do the job.
All the best
Steve

Hello, you have a nice Teisco Tulip. I've got one (branded a Checkmate) that looks just like yours but mine has the spring. I've rehabilitated several tremelo tailpieces adding the spring. I got my springs from ebay. I've tried a bigsby spring but it is a little too beefy and big for the holder. I've tried Menards parts bins without luck for size. I finally got the right springs on ebay sold as Teisco whammy bar springs. Good luck. ... Dave

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll keep searching eBay and hope one turns up! Just annoyed that I passed another one over a few weeks ago as, it was quite badly beaten up. Wouldn'tve had the spring, as it was a stop tail, but I also need a machine head cog screw.
Cheers
Steve
Stop buying parts and buy a lathe. : )
Check out the ones at Harbor Freight and Wholesale Tool. They're Asian as well. LOL
werent you just plugging using original parts ? ;-)
and not "giving up " ? lol.
Oh, and i've got my arms on ebay as well. The trick is putting it together. I've found you have to take the bridge loose of it's holder in order to open the spring cage wide enough to get the spring in and you then can attach the new arm to its shoulder and install the spring. ...
When I see someone selling just the arm for $20 when they sell the WHOLE whammy assy for around $23, it just makes me boil...
Guys. Thanks a lot. No waiting around for replies on this group!
Found the parts required from EZPZ (as per the links posted by anonymous pick. They have a replacement tremolo tail piece which, only works out slightly more expensive than the spring and arm are separately. So, have got that ordered.

I'll post pack when it's fitted.

GUITAR DISCOUNT CENTER on eBay has the springs for $1.89 and has stainless Bigsby springs as well that are just a tad beefier and more likely to be pitch stable.

Chrome is available for the Bigsby as well, I think for the same price...
