Randy good to have you here!
yes spoke shaves are a top tool , one of the first tools i purchased , i just love the sound of the plane blade slicing through the wood , and its amazin how much control you have with them , i do like a rounded neck myself .. but everyone to there own
But rounding the neck can promote new problems with strength either use a thicker than normal timber for the neck or introduce a truss rod or solid rod/Bar , my last build i used a truss rod for the first time and it works a treat and so easy to do don't know what i was worried about lol!!
thanks for the input

Hey Steve my man !!
Thanks for joining , hey i like the sound of the Sanding station thats something i need to consider myself , i try and use a vac whenever i can but a dedicated Sanding Station sounds so much better , as for the wood Boogers why not try making some modern artform from them hehehe!!
Cheers for your input mate

The tang nippers are a great tool... I held out on buying one 'cause I thought it was pricey..but well worth the money!!

Thanks JuJu for invite. I was cleanin out my late Dad's shop and he had an old console TV cabinet that had been gutted. He also had an old shop Vac. I decided to make a vacuum sanding station with it.( I was tired of wood boogers) I built a frame on top and inside i angled cardboard so that dust would funnel down into shop vac hose under neath inside tv cabinet. I then put perfurated board on top of the box. I turn the shop vac on and start sanding. It works good. It also doubles as a work station. The console has wheels on it and I roll it around wherever. I put a 3/4 piece of plywood on top to use as a work table when i'm not sanding. I'm going to mount a small vice on top in the near future.

Hey Guys and Gals
After the nightmere i had on my last build the RESO i decided to buy a pair of Stewmac Fret tang Nippers .
Have you ever tried to undercut the Fret Tang on 22 Frets or 44 Fret ends ?? well the last ones i did took just under 6 hours ... yes you heard me right 6 hours and made my finger tips numb for 3 days .
i just received my New Fret tang nippers this morning , of course i had to try them so how long does it take to do both ends of a fret now ... less than 60 seconds "cool or what "
There not cheap but there a god send and something you need if your gonna be making Bound Fretboards , or just use them on a regular Fretboard , undercut the Fret Tang then use some filler to hide the Fret slot , no more fret tang ends showing on the side of the fretboard "sweet"
Share your special tool ideas with us all
Regards
juju.
