i got a few tools that i use that could possibly contribute to this group,so i will gather a little info and share.thanks fer the invite juju. i use a lot of hand tools fer most of the work i do but i use a few power tools, mostly battery powered drill but i use a die-grinder with sanding disk sometimes on profiling the necks fer cbg,s. it speeds up the hand-sanding process if you are careful.be back later with more info.

juju, sorry, didn't mean it like that, you're not stepping on my toes. There's room for a lot of nuanced groups here, and everything will work itself out. Some cool stuff posted here already!

Fact is, we had/have no idea how this place would evolve. In the beginning here I experimented with blogs, forums and then groups to post permanent topics & threads. It's a growing and learning experience.

This place has the potential to rise above the shortcomings of the Yahoo groups with information readily available, not just a running list of the same stuff posted over and over again.

Since 2003, I've literally seen the same questions gone over hundreds & hundreds of times on Yahoo. Here we have the ability to have the answers to most asked questions archived for easy access. I'm sure before long there will be another group about tools with duplicate questions and entries. And also new tips and tricks.

Anybody reading can still learn a lot from Mad Scientist Lab, Secrets of the CBG Underground, Low Budget Land, Super Advanced CBG Building and some of the other comprehensive builders groups.

If I see a question here that's already been asked it's no problem to link to an already posted answer. Also, if I see a great tip here, I'll link it to a discussion in the Lab.

We're all in this together!

Ted

hello Fernando
old tools are the best tools and simple tools are the best if it does the job in hand why alter it !
i bought special tools that i was unable to make or tools which i maybe could have made but would have taken so much time that it was just easier and more cost effective to buy one .
very glad you joined us mate

Hi Jasus
Cool to have you here bro
most of my tools are also hand tools also all my builds so far were built with hand tools except for the use of a router and small drill press / pillar drill - i do like using had tools but it takes forever , its hard going cutting rock maple by hand saw i can tell you lol!!
i try to make what tools i can but it's not always viable , sometimes i just think sodd it i'm buying one lol!!
thanks for the input
juju.

I'm not going to repeat myself here again, but there is a lot on tools and tips and tricks in:

Ted's Mad Scientist Lab Check out:

Tool Tips and

We Don't Need Expensive Tools The search function on the Nation works pretty good. There are already a few duplicate threads, I've posted about wfret 4 or 5 places already when all someone had to do was searth for Fret. The Nation is only 5 months old, can you imagine how diluted and confusing it'll be in 5 years?
