I'm working on a cigar box bass. It's my third attempt at a short scale rubber string bass, and I think the best one. I will post some pics or video when I get it done.

Comment by Skeesix on June 17, 2011 at 9:25am: I've found that the less poles you have, the more wire you need to get the same volume, unless you're using larger or stronger magnets. Assuming you're not changing the magnets, I would guess somewhere in the 9000-10,000 range.

The next one is how I got interested in it, which is through the rockabilly band Johnny Burnette and the Rock and Roll Trio. The band is lip-synching/play-synching to the studio track on which Grady Martin played. Apparently this sort of thing was common back in the day.
