It seems that they are pretty useless but I generate wire coat hangers, any ideas of an application for these? Weld them for sound hole screens? Frets?
Thanks,

Bend them into a cbg hanger for display or for holding while finish is drying

short lengths can be used as fret markers

bridge or nut material

ever try to measure the inside of a cigar box accurately? use two five inch lengths of coat hanger wire side by side .slide them until they fill the opening and mark across both with a pencil .

Soldering gun holder

use several together to make a Calder inspired CBG mobile!

Nice idea! A little heat shrink or wire casing to keep them from moving around and you have a handy tool. I'll be building one this week.
It won't use up many of the little devils but it's a start.
Thanks for the input.

Cheap welding rods. Clogged drain opener. Hang paint brush to dry. Give to local resale shop for charity. Wire art. Fishing wire, as in electrical, phone, computer. Bend into shapes for topiary, then sell to local floral shop! I could do more but Momma says, DINNER!

Paul Thorley is using them as fret wire...... ask him to post pics up cause its a bit hard to explain....
Hi,
I haven't been able to find Paul Thorley, though I did take a look at your pix (and your assistant cat ).
Can you point to his page?
Thanks,
PRH
Nice builds BTW.

How about as a tail piece (no, I haven't tried it). As long as you can get it to take the tension the strings can be wrapped round it and threaded through their own ball ends. Not particularly decorative though.

I bent one so that it gripped the inside of one half of a cigar box so that I could hang it from the cloths line and spray varnish it (the line is going to be replaced soon anyway).
Interested in a Bowed instrument?  The 'Vaudeville Fiddle' plans on the website's Free Plans section has a Bow made from a coat hangar to complement it's one string broomhandle instrument...
