I would like to know the best Piezo location for the best sound quality and why. I know there are many different opinions on this subject. I personally like to locate 2 piezo inside the bridge, this…Continue

Hi,I just tried my first rod-piezo, mounted under the saddle of the bridge. I was rather underwhelmed. The sound was just fine, a bit more mellow than my usual disc type piezo, but the volume was so…Continue

Hey guys, Looking at stuff on YouTube the other day I saw where they were making Bongo's using those five gallon water bottles. One guy was wishing he could tune his so I think I came up with an…Continue

check to make sure the pos wire goes to the correct terminal on the jack. Common problem & a mistake we've all made at one time or another. Vol control should also have one end tag soldered to the pot metal covering as well as an earth lead that goes to the jack. Think I got all that right.......
Hi Nation,
I need help! I have a grounding buzz on a piezo pickup. It has volume control and the buzz stops when I touch the jack input. It is not currently wired to the bridge or tailpiece. Would that help? I always seem to have grounding issues.
Please Help!

Tried some 20mm (smaller than my usual). No noticeable difference, great sound...
I've found no real noticeable difference, even with a small piece cut from a disk. Read more here.
What difference does the size of the piezo disk make in the volume or sound quality? I have read thus far that size doesn't matter much at all. True?
I just finished my first CBG build, with two piezo disks harvested from Radio Shack buzzers and mounted, respectively, under the sound board near the bass side of the bridge, and at the midpoint of the part of the neck inside the box. I used hot glue to mount them. I was worried that the sound would be too harsh and tinny, but the opposite was actually true - it was bassier than I expected, and I have to compensate at the amp to make the sound brighter.
I've wired up passive tone controls, that essentially shunt high frequencies to ground through a pot - basically low-pass filters. I was thinking of using a selector switch on the next build, that would let me choose between that same sort of RC network going to ring (ground) or to tip (to make it a high-pass filter). Has anyone done anything like that, and if so, how did it work out?
Stereo jack is fine, just wire it up as usual and don't use the third terminal. Look online for a diagram that shows the difference between the two
I'm nearly done building my first Cigar box guitar so while I'm waiting on the finish to dry I have turned my attention to the piezo and jack. I bought both at Radio Shack months before starting this build and simply went in and asked for a 1/4 inch jack and piezo transduser. The salesman got me both and I paid and left. Well now I realise that I bought stereo jacks. Can I still use them or should I go back and pick upa mono jack?
Thanks !
I use to be a professionnal musicien, I'm now handicaped so I can't play as much as I would like. Now, instead I build instruments ! That's great too.
That's a great sounding track. Have you recorded an album or anything? You should
