Hey Guys, I'm new to the whole CBG movement. I've just finished my first and have just made the box from scratch as I'm trying to stay true to the philosophy and use what I have in the garage. Is there many people still making and playing these? I'm based in Chch, btw.
Read more…I was thinking about buying some cheap ukulele fretboards, but something nagged at me in the back of my mind and I did a bit of research. It seems that new regulations apply from the beginning of this year and if I import anything it needs to come with a CITES certificate. Has anyone had any issues with importing rosewood or bubinga this year? Are there reputable dealers that will proved the proper documentation? I have my doubts about wish.com sellers and would rather not risk having goods…
Read more…Hi, I'm new to the NZ group and in the process of making a CBG. Does anyone know of a local source for suitable cigar boxes? They are few and far between and costly on Trademe, and it costs an arm and a leg to get one from the US, so I am interested to get any ideas. Greg
Read more…Just to let you know that I am starting CBG tuition covering Auckland North and down to Hamilton. I do an intensive 2 hour session covering tuning, slide technique, basic and advanced riffs and general 'How To's' on 3 and 4 string cigar box guitars. Wow guys and girls, its been a while but great to be back. Promise I wont be missing anymore.
Soooo.....Boxstock is back on for 2019 folks. The event will be hosted by the Auckland Blues Music club and will be on in June / July. Just sorting a date and a venue and we are rolling.
2019 will be the year for the very first NZ Boxstock and I am planning to take it around the country as well.
For those of you that do the Facebook thing, I will be setting up a NZ CBG Facebook Group which will have all the details as well as this group.
Thats that for now folks, stay tuned and keep twanging
