Hello fellow guitar builders. What a great site this is.
I am Brendan deVallance and I live in Jersey City, New Jersey. That's just across the river from NYC. I work in the graphic design biz in New York. I am married and have 2 kids. I am also a Performance Artist, which might explain the pic of me with the chain saw hat. Music has always been a part of my life and i almost always have a band of some kind despite my horrific musical abilities. I came of age during the early punk rock days which is a heavy influence on me, but i also love folk music of all types. Punk rock is folk music after all, right. I finished my first guitar about a month ago and am planning out my next one now. Im also trying to lure all my musician friends over to the builders life and it isnt too hard when you show them a CBG and how simple it all is. Im so glad to be a part of all this. —B

Greets everyone.

You've probably seen me a couple of times on the forum posts or some of the groups (Secrets of the CBG Underground, CBG Tabs). So here is the Bio:

Wes Yates, Simpsonville SC (Upstate SC area). 46 year old fart. Found CBGs last spring when I stumbled upon Red Dog Guitars (John McNair) on ebay selling kits. "What the $^%@ is this?" It blew me away. I was hooked. And like Ted C jokes "Welcome to your new obsession...", he was right.

So I travel throughout the South East with a company out of Somerset, NJ called Raritan Inc.. We make Datacenter equipment that allows users to access multiple computers from a remote location. In my spare time, I build CBGs for people. Man this is a great adventure. I take my acoustic (Oliva) when I travel and folks just eat it up when I check into hotels.

I play mostly slide and 12 -bar, which like all I'm getting much better at daily. All in all, CBG playing has allowed me to focus on fingerpicking more which help with the ol' 6 string.

"CBG's changed my life man...". Well not really, but it sure has sparked a creative side.

Oh and one more thing: Thanks Shane for a wonderful site!

I'm Roger Morin live in Upstate, N.Y. acrooss the river from Cornwall Canada. Not a very good player or builder but love the cbg. A the present time I am planning on one diddley bow with a single string pickup made by Philipp Eggers and planning on one cbg. Don't have room or time to build with new health problems.

I am the Joker. Electrician by trade from Cincinnati, Ohio. I started playing guitar when I was 14. Was in a garage punk band in high school that never really left the garage. Found the yahoo cbg forum a couple of years ago and was hooked. I started out building, had my own logo and everything :

For reasons I still can't explain I stopped building altogether and now I focus on the music. I played the 5th CBG extravaganza in Huntsville, Alabama with my punk blues band "7 Hills Stomp" which features me on cbg and my good friend Lee on Drums. I host the Cigar Box Guitar Podcast at http://jokercbg.podbean.com/ Married with 1 kid. That's pretty much it!

Shane, you deserve a holiday man :o)

Ok, Im Roosterman... I guess I always have a lot to say!
I run a B&B in the Scottish Highlands, UK, but spend most my time building CBGs - like the other guys, its an addiction of unhealthy proportions! Iv done my fair share of solid bodies too though, and have a potted musical history that includes playing piano, sax, flute, and yes, bagpipes! Oh, and guitar of course, though not very well. Im definately a builder rather than a player...

Anything I can do to help, drop me a line - like most guys here, I really enjoying helping out where I can

If you're new here, check out the chat feature too (little square symbol, bottom right, next to the bowling pin looking thing) - great for real time help or just shooting the breeze and putting the world to rights

All the best
Ben

Ted Crocker here. I build 'em better than I play 'em, but I'm working on that. I make my living crafting guitars, pickups, stomp boxes, guitar electronics and a lot of other weird and wonderful creations.

A lot of members here rely on me to give voice to their instruments, and a lot of their spouses & neighbors probably wish I would find another line of work ; )

Cigar Box Nation is an incredible resource for builders, players and fans. Just ask if you have any questions - me and many others are glad to help. I'll be your tour guide if you need a hand navigating around the nation.

We love to see pics and videos of your instruments so add 'em if you got 'em! Most of all HAVE FUN and welcome to your new addiction!

Shane, what a great idea! You're working over time.

Okay, I'm Josh Gayou and I've been a part of the nation for some two years now. A lot of you guys know me but I forget how many new people we take on on a daily basis.

I live out in CA with my wife and son. I'm 31. By day I work in the aerospace business (I've been doing some sort of aerospace software development since I was 23 - I started by writing software for helicopter flight systems). I'm a lead engineer on a project to bring broadband internet to passenger and business aircraft. Sometime if you want a real snore google Panasonic Global Communications Suite, and you'll see what I work on.

By night, I'm a custom guitar maker and owner of Smokehouse Guitars. You could say that I've enjoyed some small measure of success but how much is debatable as I'm still trying to just break even given all the tools and raw materials I invest in. Hopefully within the next few months I can get myself back in black...

I'm always happy to help out with any questions for new builders. If you happen to be around my way please stop in and say hi. I'll have hurt feelings if you don't :)
