Wes if you want a world gathering what about Amsterdam, or Paris or Madrid or Rome, there is a great choice in European cities why not see the world. or Better yet Leiden in the Netherlands,, it is closely tied to American history as it is where the pilgrim fathers actually left from on the Mayflower to to to America. There is little or nothing in Vegas. Used to deal in my younger days..

Hello, I am Paul Thompson, and I am an alcoho,,,oops,, wrong forum. I live in Port Huron Michigan, 51, married 30 years to the same woman, and just started playing guitar about three years ago, while re-cooperating from major spine surgery. I stumbled on to a CBG vid on youtube in early 09, and found a new outlet for my building skills to once again flourish. I have spend working years as factory worker, heavy equipment operator, home delivery route driver, more factory work as a shipping and receiving clerk, and now part time taxidermist. And now, I am pondering the thought of being a hobby guitar builder selling my art guitars. I am still ramping up with a product that I hope will help pay for groceries. This site is great for breaking into the guitar building fun, proving that you do not need to spend allot of money to be cool infront of your family and friends.

My wife has just pointed out that Tempo is the dog we got when we were married...Further she goes on to say that both Tempo and Melody - our dogs deserve a mention, as does she as being the long suffering CBG a holics wife

Hi I'm Will and I am a CBG-ophile. I was just a CBG-aholic but Shane and Ted changed all that. I live in the most remote city in the world - Perth Western Australia. I have played guitar since I was 5, taught the guitar class at school and played in several bands and ensembles including basic session work.

I originally built a guitar with my father as I idolised Brian May and shared his basic interests ie guitars, physics and astronomy.
My father many years later had a stroke and after a period of time began to complain that the guitar we made never seemed to be around anymore.

One of my fatter friends knocked it over and snapped the head off. I resolved, guilt ridden, to repair the guitar and consequently bought a great deal of tools and when complete eventually found the preliminary CBG websites as I had a couple of boxes and no real use for them.

I now make around 100 guitars a year and sell them or give them to charity or family friends etc under the "brand" of Tempo Cigar Box Guitars.

My website is now under construction, keep you posted.

My name is Allan I an an expat that lives in the Netherlands A town called Zoetermeer (Sweet Lake) . My wife is a Dutch Native that is why I am here. I built my dulcimer some 28 years ago while I was sailing single handed. I learned to play an accompaniment to the wind.. I have recently returned to the dulcimer after rebuilding a banjo for my brother in law.. and that has evolved back to an interest in the dulcimer.

HI folks. I live in the west of England and am a single dad working as an illustrator/animator. Like many males I learn to understand things from taking them apart or building things. This has led to much joy, a cupboard over-stuffed with things I still don't understand, vast amounts of time and money disappearing into a 9/10ths hand built car, and lots of weird things hanging on the walls that attract a certain amount of interest and raised eyebrows. I do just about play guitar and listen to music almost every day while drawing and now my son has developed an interest in playing off the back of guitar hero we have turned to making CBGs.

My musical taste was born of the early seventies and moved through punk and reggae to blues and trip hop (gathering lots of other things along the way). Slide has alway hit the spot and I have promised myself that I would explore and learn to play to level that didn't make me feel ill to listen. Maybe one day...

Hi all-

I've been playing guitars since I was 15, and got interested in blues and jug band music pretty early on. In 2004 I read a newspaper article about Shane and CBGs, and within two weeks had built my first four-string fretless wonder. I stopped playing my store-bought guitars and spent all my time trying to fold my 6 string slide chops down into four strings. I also started writing songs. I met Shane, Gerry Thompson, Doc Oakroot,John Lowe and Ray Nutter in 2005, and in 2006 Shane got me turned onto diddley bows by suggesting I get the CD "One String Blues" by Eddie One String Jones. After encouragement by Shane and Boz, I focused on teaching myself to play the diddley bow and first performed on the instrument in public 2007 at the 3rd Annual CBG Fest in Huntsville. The diddley bow is now my main axe.

I view diddley bows as informal instruments, so while it is important (to me) to know how to build one quickly with found materials, it is not really important (to me) to have it look nice, as long as it plays well. I am much more interested in playing and exploring the limits of what can be done with one string.

Miz Charlotte and I have been married for 30 years now--our two daughters have left the nest (or are in the process of doing so) and we only have a small herd of cats at home to keep us company. We live in the extreme rural suburbs north of Philadelphia.

I have a website if you're interested: www.onestringwillie.com

Best regards, Willie

Hey guys. I'm 23 years old, and for 13 of those years I've played the guitar. I was introduced to the cbg world about 3 months ago by a highschool friend after we reconnected on facebook.

I work as a medical technologist right now for a small hospital in northern Arkansas. I'm married to a wonderful woman who puts up with all of my eccentric hobbies (fossil hunting, flint knapping, diy electronics, vintage video games, and now cbgs).

Building and playing CBGs fits two of my lifelong passions together: playing music with other people, and designing stuff to fit unusual requirements. My ambitions are definitely on the playing side, as I don't have the skills to build everything I might like. I'm learning from my mistakes, though.

I pay for the addition by running a web software consulting company in Fredericksburg, Virginia: I just passed my twentieth year (?!) as a software consultant!

I'm married to an artist, and have two near-grown sons.
