Hey y’all,

Been here for a year, figured an introduction is past due. My given name is Matt. My building name is Scufflegrit. There’s one true story and a bunch of lies about how I got that name. The lies are more fun—feel free to make up your own.

I’m from Marietta, Georgia. This means that I say I’m from Atlanta to anyone who’s unfamiliar with the place. My degree’s in theatre, but it rarely gets used nowadays. I started building to keep my shop skills sharp and to help me learn to play my old Yamaha electric better. I wasn’t expecting to catch the CBG virus.

Twelve instruments later, I find myself continuously accruing new tools, knowledge, and lingo. There is something magical—or maybe just addictive—about the moment you first string up a newly built such-and-such and hear its voice for the first time. It's the kind of thing I look forward to while working 50+ hours a week for beans at two remarkably unfulfilling jobs.
