Hello all,

My name is David Atchison. I live in Northwestern Arkansas. Recently retired from my day job. My hobby job/affliction is making bamboo fly rods, so I fully understand the addictive nature of creating things.

A year or so ago my teenage grandson took up the guitar and it brought back memories from when I played a little as a youngster. I tried to play his but found that due to an injury that my fret hand pinky is just in the way. Then I remberered that a few years ago, I saw a young fellow selling cigar box guitars in an open air market in downtown Pensacola. Three strings and three useful fingers ought to be a decent match. If the young fellow in Pensacola is on here, thanks. I know I'm probably jumping into another addiction, but what the heck, I got the time now.

I have a rod for a customer on my work bench about a third of the way done. In few weeks, it will be finished and I'll start on two CBG's. One for me and one for my grandson. Alreading  haunting the local cigar store and have a good start on a supply of boxes. Picked up another beauty a few hours ago.

Looking forward to this new challenge.

Thanks,

David

  • Welcome David to the madness. Gladness will result. There's not much difference from a guitar and a fly rod. You've got your string and a neck and a snoose can could be a body. You could be "playing your Fish".
  • welcome to the addiction ;-)
