Hi,
My name is Letha Allen and it's nice to meet you all. I am from Michigan. I love cigar box guitar and started playing them about 8 years ago when a friend named Roy saw Richard Johnson live. He started looking at cigar box forums and built a number of them, from 4 strings to six strings and mandolins and slides. He was so good at building them, and I was the lucky one who got to try them out. I haven't played in a while, but I wrote a book called Down In Kentucky that came from a song that I wrote on Cigar Box Guitar named the same. Then I wrote a soundtrack around the book mostly on cigar box guitar, and I finally finished the whole thing and am going to be doing a few shows to showcase the soundtrack.
I hadn't been in forums for years, but am so happy that I found this one. I was excited to finally finish the project I started so long ago, and it is not always easy to talk to people who don't love or know the cigar box guitar and it's history, so thanks for being here.
I am loving the videos and music, and still have a great interest in the talent it takes to build the instruments. I look forward to the time I get to look around here.
Thanks again
Letha
