Introduction

I've just discovered the world of Cigar Box Nation so here's my introduction. My name is Ian and I'm an expat Brit living in Minnesota, USA. I've always loved the Blues and have played delta (sort of) blues off and on for a long time. Though the past few years have most definitely been "off" years. However after discovering what a lively scene the CBG world is I'm quite excited to get my own and start playing again. I've been all over the internet checking out the guitars, working out which I want to play, a very difficult task there's so many out there to choose from. I think I know which I want in he meantime I'm sure there's lots I can learn here.

  • the deed is now done I've just placed an order for CBGitty's #4 Big Macanudo. Loved the tone on it from the moment I heard it.

  • Think I'm getting a bit of Cigar Box Guitar fatigue now that I've looked at and listened too so many of them. I still do keep going back to one of the first I looked at though. So perhaps I really do know what I want

    • Yes, I get kind of sea sick from long sessions of "pictures". It's a good sick though...

  • Hi Ian, I'm a fellow Minnesotan. Up in Duluth. Welcome to this great Nation. I have found it very interesting and love seeing all the beautiful instruments made by Nation members. I've learned a lot. ... Dave

  • Well Ian, welcome to the club, i joined a few months ago, and like you im interested in playing the blues, but wanted to change from playing a steel resonator to a 3 string, i saw seasick steve at the o2 in leeds a couple of years ago and got hooked on the sound, then after trawling the net for a long time, came across this site, i then got in touch with Randy rooster and bought a 3 string from him, boy does it sound awsome, plugged in turned up , loads of distortion , it sounds real dirty, but i can play it clean and still get the delta blues sound, i love it , the sites brilliant, get in touch with some of the builders and watch the vids, i spend hours on here and cant get enough, my next ambition is to maybe build my own, So good luck enjoy the site get chatting and have fun, c ya.
