You need to be a member of Cigar Box Nation to add comments!
If you arent ready or able to build one and want to buy one, thats fine. If nothing else you will have something to study and learn from if/when you decide to attempt one for yourself.
Be very careful about those ebay CBG's, many of them arent very good. I personally wouldnt buy one sight unseen unless I knew who built it and their reputation. Do your homework.
You didnt describe much of what you wanted, but set a price point that generally limits you to a bare bones, fretless primitive style CBG, usually without any form of pickup. Which is not a bad thing, just know what to expect.
There have been a few sources in that price range, but recently the builders in question have been busy doing other (probably more profitable :-) things.) The only source I am aware of recently is Shane himself. Look here under the SHOP tab above.
welcome to this amazing site, best of luck with the build when you get the chance, just remember to have fun, it doesnt have to look like a masterpiece, I made my 1st one a couple of months ago (bought a box on e bay for £4) it was thrown together cos didnt know if it would work but she amazed me with the sound, I hardly ever play my 6 string now!
Thank you everyone. I will definitely build my own at some point. But right now I just want to get one and play. I don't have the time to start a build or knowledge to do so. I'm gonna start looking on how to build one and later make one. But I can't wait to play one
YES, If you get a chance build your own. All the info can be found on this site. You can't replace the feeling of jamming on a cbg that you made yourself. I will say you get what you pay for and even if your not into building one, ANY cigar box guitar should do fine.
Build one yourself right off the bat! It may not be clean-edged and nice looking, but hey, it's a cigar box guitar! You'll appreciate it more. Also, you can make one for under $65 easily. Just dive in.
Welcome on board Rob. Lovely part of the world where you are - I'm planning a visit in 2012 to Baltimore and then north into Pennysylvania. A long way from where I am in the UK but I'm sure it'll be worth it. Maybe I'll pick your brains for some tips! As for CBG I agree with William - just get building. This time last year I hadn't even picked up a CBG, I can't play, I'm rubbish at woodwork, but twelve moths on I've built an amp, a stomp box, a one string electric diddly-bow, and a three string fully fretted electric three string with hand wound pick ups! Believe me Rob, if I can do it anybody can!! Good luck matey.

One example, if he still has any in stock- http://shanespeal.bigcartel.com/product/the-originator-3-string-str...
