I acquired this thing for $3 thinking I would re-purpose the tuners, nut, and perhaps neck and bridge into future CBG builds... But I am now thinking I would like instead to make it resophonic. It is a 35" instrument with a 24" scale if I measured it
Hi guys I viseted a local store today ,they had for sale some tin plate placks aproximatly 12" × 8" in size normally us ed for hanging on the kitchen wall ,if this was atached to a frame like a licence plate would this be strong enough to resinate
Hi.a pal of mine recently made me a nice resonator guitar by using a full size cone and spider set and spider set, fantastick sound, ut after looking at smaller cigar box resinators thats box was made of aliminium I am now wishing I done the same.I
Greetings, has anyone used the center lead rod piezo sold by Gitty to amplify a homemade cone/biscuit assembly? I've cut a groove in the wooden biscuit and wanted to use a piece of deer antler as a saddle (see photo below). I was planning to drill
I'm going to make Dog Bowl reso , the box is 2in deep inside so I've made the neck double thickness inside the box so it fits snug in the box , I've notched the top of the neck inside the box so the lid is free to vibrate , and cut out where the dog
Hi all, can anyone help? I want to try and spin my own reso'. Which metal gives what tone? How do I calculate sizes from blank to finished size? What tools etc?
Finally getting around to my first resonator after getting several requested "regular" builds finished and had a question. Does the sound from a reso benefit more from the vibration on the box and cone? Or can you get the sound you want from a magnet

About a third finished, should sound like a reso when complete. Will post pics as I go. Be sure to check out the Kopopelli resonator on my page. I just finished final setup & it's fantastic. Un-amped it is louder than my Dobro.
Hello, volume connoisseurs. I've been lurking around this site for a while now. Just joined the other day. I've already built a couple of instruments - a three string CBG and a little CB uke. Both were pretty successful. Now, I want to try something
I've seen a lot of resonator guitars built with magnetic pickups. Do the magnetic pickups capture some of the unique sound that you get when playing a resonator acoustically? Do you have to have a piezo type pickup? Are there specific types of pic
I was wondering if anyone else was building electric resonators?
I have build one with a homemade magnetic pickup, it works pretty well, I just need to refine the neck and break angles.
What are you all doing?
A friend of mine picked up two beautiful boxes that are good sized, but the lids seem quite thick. I was thinking about making my first resonator out of one of them, but I can't get the mechanics in my head. If you will bear with me, I would like to
